Saint Luke

Luke was not one of the Twelve, he nevertheless stood at the Church’s heart, traveling with Paul in the “we” sections of Acts. Sacred tradition credits him with painting the first icons of the Theotokos. He is honored as a martyr by tradition in Boeotia, Greece and as the Church’s historian who taught believers to set the truth “in order” and carry it to the nations.
