Purchase & Return Policy
Company name: Antioch in Focus · Website: antiochinfocus.com
1. General
These terms apply to all purchases made through Antioch in Focus. By placing an order on our website, you agree to these terms.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on the website at the time of your purchase applies to your order.
These terms apply to consumer purchases. If you are purchasing as a business, organisation, parish, monastery, or other non-consumer entity, please see section 18 (Business Purchases) — different rules apply.
2. Products
2.1 Standard Catalogue Items
We strive to present our products as accurately as possible. However, because icons are handcrafted or small-batch produced, slight variations in colour, tone, gilding, and finish may occur between individual pieces and relative to product images. Minor differences attributable to screen settings, photography, and lighting are normal.
Significant divergence from the product description is not covered by this disclaimer and will be handled under section 12 (Damaged, Faulty, or Incorrect Items).
2.2 Commissioned and Custom Icons
A commissioned or custom icon is one produced to the customer’s specific instructions. This includes, but is not limited to:
- icons of a specific saint not offered as a standard catalogue item
- icons with custom dimensions, proportions, or board specifications
- icons with personalised inscriptions, names, dedications, or text
- icons produced in a specific style, technique, or medium at the customer’s request
- any other item marked as “made to order,” “commissioned,” or “custom” at the point of sale
Standard catalogue icons purchased without modification are not commissioned items, even if produced after the order is placed.
2.3 Availability
All products are subject to availability. If a product becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, we will contact you and offer a refund or another suitable solution.
3. Prices
All prices are listed in SEK and include VAT where applicable, unless otherwise stated.
We reserve the right to correct pricing errors, product descriptions, and other inaccuracies. Where a material pricing error is discovered after an order has been placed, we will contact you and either confirm the corrected price (subject to your agreement) or cancel the order with a full refund.
4. Orders
When you place an order, you will receive an order confirmation by email. This confirmation acknowledges receipt of your order but does not in itself constitute final acceptance.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order in cases such as product unavailability, material pricing errors, suspected fraud, or where the order appears to breach these terms. If we cancel an order for any reason, you will receive a full refund.
5. Payment
Payment must be completed at checkout through the payment methods offered on the website. Orders are processed once payment has been successfully approved.
6. Shipping and Delivery
We aim to dispatch orders within 4 business days. Delivery times shown on the website are estimates only and may vary depending on destination, shipping provider, customs procedures, and seasonal demand.
Antioch in Focus is not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers, customs authorities, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. This does not affect your statutory rights in the event of a significantly delayed or undelivered order.
The customer is responsible for providing complete and correct shipping information. If incorrect address details are provided, any additional shipping or handling costs may be charged to the customer.
7. Customs, Duties, and Import Taxes
For international orders outside the EU, customs duties, import taxes, VAT, and related fees may apply depending on the destination country. Unless otherwise stated on the website, these charges are the responsibility of the customer.
8. EU Right of Withdrawal
8.1 Your Right
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days without giving any reason, in accordance with the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and the Swedish Distansavtalslagen.
The withdrawal period expires 14 days after the day on which you — or a third party indicated by you, other than the carrier — acquire physical possession of the goods. For orders of multiple goods delivered separately, the period starts on the day the last item is delivered.
8.2 How to Exercise the Right
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision by an unequivocal statement before the 14-day period expires. You may do this by:
- submitting the withdrawal request form at antiochinfocus.com/return (recommended — this is the fastest way to process your return), or
- sending us an email or letter stating your decision to withdraw, or
- using the model withdrawal form provided in Appendix A of this policy.
You do not need to state a reason. Using our online return form is recommended but not required — any clear written statement of withdrawal is sufficient.
8.3 Inspection of Goods
You are entitled to inspect and handle the item as you would in a physical shop to establish its nature, characteristics, and function. You will only be liable for any diminished value of the item resulting from handling beyond what is necessary for such inspection.
8.4 Returning the Goods
After notifying us of your withdrawal, you must return the goods without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day you communicated your withdrawal.
8.5 Exceptions to the Withdrawal Right
The statutory withdrawal right does not apply to goods made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalised (see section 9.2). This is a statutory exception under Article 16(c) of the Consumer Rights Directive.
9. Returns
9.1 How to Initiate a Return
To initiate any return — whether under the statutory withdrawal right (section 8), under our extended goodwill return policy, or due to a defect (section 12) — we recommend using the return portal at antiochinfocus.com/return. This helps us process your return quickly.
For statutory withdrawals, you may also notify us by any other clear written statement (see section 8.2).
9.2 General Return Requirements
To be eligible for a return:
- the item must be returned within the applicable return or withdrawal period
- proof of purchase must be included or otherwise provided
- the item should be packaged securely for return transport
The condition of the returned item does not affect your right to withdraw, but significant handling beyond inspection may result in a deduction for diminished value (see section 8.3).
9.3 Return Shipping Costs
Unless the return is due to damage, defect, or an error on our part, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
10. Non-Returnable Items
The following items are not eligible for return under our standard return policy, and — where applicable — are also exempt from the statutory EU withdrawal right:
- commissioned icons and custom icons as defined in section 2.2
- personalised products (including items with inscriptions, dedications, or custom artwork)
- made-to-order items produced to the customer’s specifications
- gift cards, where applicable
- items damaged after delivery due to misuse, improper storage, mishandling, or abnormal use
If you are unsure whether a specific item qualifies as commissioned or custom, please contact us before placing the order. This exemption does not affect your rights in case of a defect (see section 12).
11. Refused Deliveries and Unclaimed Parcels
If a parcel is refused, left unclaimed, or returned to us because the customer did not collect it or provided incorrect shipping information, and this does not constitute a valid exercise of the withdrawal right, we reserve the right to deduct from any refund:
- the original outbound shipping cost
- the return shipping cost charged by the carrier
- any customs or handling fees incurred
Where the customer has validly exercised the statutory withdrawal right, deductions will be limited to what is permitted by law (see sections 8 and 13).
12. Damaged, Faulty, or Incorrect Items
12.1 Transit Damage and Obvious Defects on Delivery
If your item arrives visibly damaged, defective, or incorrect, please report the issue through antiochinfocus.com/return within 14 days of delivery and include:
- your order number
- a description of the issue
- clear photos of the item
- clear photos of the packaging, including any shipping damage
Prompt reporting of transit damage is important because shipping carrier claims often depend on timely notice and documentation. Late reporting of transit damage may limit our ability to recover from the carrier but does not eliminate your statutory rights regarding defects.
12.2 Statutory Defect Rights
Independently of section 12.1, consumers in Sweden have statutory rights under Konsumentköplagen (the Consumer Sales Act) in respect of goods that do not conform to the contract. Key points:
- You have up to three years from delivery to claim in respect of a defect, provided you notify us within a reasonable time after discovering the defect (notification within two months is always considered reasonable).
- For defects that appear within the first two years after delivery, the defect is presumed to have existed at the time of delivery unless we can show otherwise.
- Remedies follow the statutory hierarchy: primarily repair or replacement; if those are impossible, disproportionate, or not completed within a reasonable time, you may claim a price reduction or cancel the purchase.
12.3 Remedies
Where a claim under this section is approved, the applicable remedy will be determined in accordance with your statutory rights. In addition, and by agreement with you, we may offer alternative remedies such as store credit where this is mutually acceptable. Nothing in this policy reduces the remedies available to you under Swedish consumer law.
13. Refunds
13.1 Timing
Where a refund is due, we will process the refund to your original payment method without undue delay and in any event:
- within 14 days of receiving your valid withdrawal notice, for statutory withdrawals under section 8; or
- within 5 to 10 business days of approving other refund claims, or within any shorter period required by law.
Processing times on the payment provider’s side may add a few additional business days before the funds appear in your account.
13.2 Withholding Refunds
For statutory withdrawals, we may withhold reimbursement until we have received the returned goods or until you have supplied evidence of having sent them back, whichever occurs first.
13.3 Shipping Costs in Refunds
If you validly exercise your EU withdrawal right, we will reimburse all payments received from you, including the cost of standard delivery. However, any supplementary costs resulting from your choice of a delivery method more expensive than our least expensive standard delivery option will not be reimbursed.
For other returns, original shipping charges are non-refundable unless the return is due to our mistake, a defective item, or shipping damage for which we accept responsibility, or unless otherwise required by law.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Antioch in Focus is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the use of our website, products, or services.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability under mandatory Swedish or EU consumer protection law.
15. Privacy
Any personal information submitted in connection with an order is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available on antiochinfocus.com.
16. Dispute Resolution
16.1 Contact Us First
If you have a complaint, please contact us first through antiochinfocus.com/contact so we can try to resolve the matter directly.
17. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country in which you reside, and nothing in these terms deprives you of those rights.
18. Business Purchases
If you are purchasing as a business, organisation, parish, monastery, or other non-consumer entity:
- the statutory EU withdrawal right in section 8 does not apply
- the consumer protections under Konsumentköplagen (section 12.2) do not apply; instead, Köplagen (the Swedish Sale of Goods Act) governs the sale
- return eligibility is at our discretion, subject to any separate written agreement
- defects must be notified promptly on delivery and in any event within a reasonable time after discovery
Please contact us before ordering if you require tailored commercial terms.
